One of the main common denominators is drug usage (including alcohol & cigarettes). Some of the guys seem to be involved in many relationships, often at the same time; others are more monogamy-oriented...that, too might be a drug thing. Drug usage might just be another symptom (I think so) rather than a cause creating those effects. That is one thing; here's another: too many beautiful young women are attached to the fad of being tattoo'ed &/or filled with piercings or spiked hair...it certainly doesn't turn me on, nor do I think will it exactly excite a lot of other of us 'older' guys.<br />BTW: When I turned 70, my sister sent me a memorable card: It said, 'Don't think of it as 70 (a big number), rather, think of it as 7 perfect-10's!'reddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11398010633343641561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4812519610205136376.post-9710309407996330472014-04-23T12:47:07.319-04:002014-04-23T12:47:07.319-04:00Thanks, Red! When...Yes...it is true, you can always get better! When my Dad was in his late 80s people would ask how he looked so young. His reply: 'I just learned to roll with the punches'. My grandmother (his mother) used to say, 'You can get used to anything, even hanging...if you hang long enough'. But seriously, I noticed in my life a series of 'break-throughs', which helped me through my asthma problems, and led me to a great feeling of being alive (I like it so much, I may try it again tomorrow). The 2 biggies were: Yoga (1958, then again in the early 70's); Then macrobiotics...more than just a diet...it is a whole lifestyle that includes shiatzu massage, healthful eating by flowing with the energy of foods grown locally, in season, and properly balanced...and the other break-through: Tai-Chi (I studied for 5 years, and taught for over 20 years)...it helped my tennis game, my drumming, my problem-solving, and a number of other pursuits/issues, etc. I heartily recommend it...you will discover at least one miracle in your life! Breathe, move & focus...that is the trinity/essence of Tai-Chi/Chi Gong. Do I recommend a book? Try Zen-mind, Beginner's mind by Shunryu Suzuki... a small book that will take you forever to read...it is that profound. Autobiography of a Yogi is another good one (I forget the author's name just offhand). Go for it....and enjoy! I taught Tai-Chi/Chi-Gong for over 20 years, and currently taking classes from one who taught for over 40 years, we still teach each other variations in the framework of those concepts. Rather than reaching perfection, I find the natural aging process points out ever increasingly that the 'spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak'. I am in the arduous journey of moving to a new residence, which is probably a good thing, but that journey is one of immense hardship, a lot of which is self-doubt (for lack of a better term). My family says, 'simplify' like that is some magic, silver-bullet. As a writer, I know that editing is really the hard part of putting together any piece worthy of merit...but...I love writing!
